Exciting new places opening in Cambridgeshire in 2020 Giggling Squid Inside the Giggling Squid in Guildford (Stock image) (Image: Aldershot News & Mail) In summer of 2019 it was announced that Giggling Squid will take over the spot that used to be occupied by Jamies Italian. Giggling Squid is a Thai restaurant and promises to bring bold flavours and abundance of food cooked with love and expertise to Cambridge when it opens. Owned by husband and wife Pranee & Andy Laurillard, there are now 32 Giggling squid restaurants across the country. The Cambridge branch will be in The Old Library on Wheeler Street, which was previously used by Jamies Italian. Each one of the couples restaurants is immaculately decorated, so we cannot wait to see how they transform the Cambridge space. The opening date for the new restaurant has not been revealed yet but according to its website it is looking like early summer. Read more about the new restaurant by clicking here. Luxury chocolatier Brothers Greg and Chris Smith, have brought their unique chocolate boutique to Cambridge (Image: Hill St.) Forget your New Years resolutions about sweet treats because a new boutique chocolate shop has arrived in Cambridge.

Brothers Greg and Chris Smith have brought their luxury chocolate with unique flavour combinations to our city with their new boutique, Hill St., which officially opened on January 14. After opening their flagship boutique in Saffron Walden, they decided Cambridge was the obvious next step and planned to open in 2020. “Cambridge is such a lovely city and having grown up in the area we had always aspired to open a store here,” they said. They grew up in a small village near Saffron Walden, Wendens Ambo, and went to school in Cambridge. Greg initially trained as a teacher at Homerton College, University of Cambridge, while Chris trained as a chef in London. Chris then worked at the Savoy and the Mayfair, in London, before moving to Paris and training as a pastry chef at top Michelin-starred restaurants. He then started working on chocolate sculptures. Their favourite creations are their 3D chocolate models, which they say differentiates them as professional chocolatiers and challenges their skills. Even though the chocolates look small and delicate, it takes “hard, physical work” sometimes, according to the brothers. “The journey towards seasonal periods such as Easter requires great industry and a physical and emotional resilience to push personal barriers of strength and endurance,” they said.

The new boutique, Hill St, is at 5 All Saints Passage. Inflata Nation indoor inflatable theme park A CGI of how the park is expected to look Talk about letting out the big kid inside - where do we sign up? An incredible new indoor inflatable theme park is set to open in Cambridgeshire later this month. Inflata Nation will take over a building recently vacated by Kiddicare, with 14,000 square feet of inflatable activities. Located at the Peterborough One Retail Park on Eye Road, it was originally set to open in late November 2019, only to see the opening delayed. A new opening date has now been confirmed and Inflata Nation will now open its doors to the public on Saturday, January 18. Youll be able to enjoy gigantic ball pools, climbing walls, obstacle courses and an ‘Inflata Bubbles’ section, designed so that visitors can achieve maximum bounce heights. It will also offer party packages, is available for private hire and will run sessions exclusively for children and people with disabilities.
